What is Light Pollution?

Light pollution is wasted artificial outdoor lighting in the natural environment. ​This is a manmade problem that we can help solve in our own backyard.

Annual Star Party 4/21/23 at the Jester King Brewery was a success!  Austin Astronomical Society and Lost Creek Dark Skies with others supported this event.  What fun to star gaze with a delicious craft beer and gourmet burgers.  Great night!

Austin City Council Declares Hill Country Night Sky Month for October, 2022

Travis County Friends of the Night Sky is a volunteer-led nonprofit that advocates for best lighting practices, upholding the values of the International Dark Sky Association, and educating the public on the environmental issues of light pollution.  ​
